In a 2015 interview, Newman recalled that he was unhappy with the director Lee Unkrich, on using the temporary version of the score. But Pixar decided against doing so, and instead wanted him to sing the track as "to retain that consistency" as he voiced for the songs in the first two instalments. The track " We Belong Together" was initially planned as a duet song, featuring popular singers Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, and John Mayer performing the track. The score received positive critical reception, and had won the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, while "We Belong Together" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. In January 2012, Intrada released the album on CD.

TOY STORY 3 SOUNDTRACKS DOWNLOAD
The album was initially released through digital download in lossy formats such as MP3 and AAC, and was not released in CD the second time, where a Pixar film soundtrack was not released through physical formats, the first being Up. The track " You've Got a Friend in Me" from the first instalment is also featured in the album, performed by The Gipsy Kings. The score album, featuring an original song " We Belong Together" performed by Newman, and instrumental tracks were released on Jby Walt Disney Records. The score was composed by recurrent Pixar composer Randy Newman, who also scored for the previous instalments in the franchise. But if the plot is as heart-twisting as advertised, and if that end music does its job, I have a feeling I'll be leaving those 3-D glasses on all the way to my car.Toy Story 3 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2010 film Toy Story 3, the third installment in the Toy Story series. We'll have to wait until June 18 to see how the score merges with the movie, and if Toy Story 3 lives up to Pixar's peerless brand of excellence.

The strings are bittersweet - mournful and hopeful - and the piano coda is absolutely gorgeous. The music also sounds deeply personal: Pixar gave Newman a career rebirth, and a whole lot of cash, so he's also saying thanks. Nothing, however, tops So Long, which bids adieu not just to Buzz, Woody and the gang, who first entered our lives in 1995, but to the world-turning series, as well. Alas, I wasn't feeling this at all.īut then I got to the final two tracks: His Zu-Zu (Ken's Theme) is swingin' '60s highball cheese, a short, loungey riot and my dream (house) ringtone. The accompanying score, including a Western-themed opening, was also mostly a letdown any time Newman ventures into Aaron Copland territory (cue up his life-affirming score for The Natural), it usually gives me goose bumps. Unfortunately, his new rag 'n' soul shuffle We Belong Together is painfully generic and uninspired, an awkward Newman parody it makes You've Got a Friend in Me sound like In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Jeez, I'm going to be a wreck.Īt the same time the rumors started swirling, I received a digital copy of the Toy Story 3 soundtrack, a momentous occasion as I'm also a Randy Newman fan.
TOY STORY 3 SOUNDTRACKS SERIES
Not surprisingly, the lookee-loos are calling the series finale, which is being presented in 3-D, "brilliant," especially Michael Keaton's Ken doll and a 30-minute goodbye that's leaving people laughing and sobbing simultaneously. I'm a drooling, unabashed Pixar nerd, so when early buzz (sorry) on June 18's Toy Story 3 started leaking, I gobbled up every word with fanboy froth. You've Got a Friend in Me (para el Buzz Español) Here's a track listening if you're curious:Ģ. It perked my ears up the first time I listened to it and made me ask "Wow! What's that track title called?" I looked it up and it's called "So Long"

There's a lot of that "Toy Story" sound to it with some big sound/smaller ensemble action cues and a fair share of flamenco music mixed in there. I've been listening to the score this weekend and I have to say I'm rather smitten with it.
